ShareX is a free and open-source tool for capturing screenshots and screen recordings and quickly sharing or exporting them with automated post-capture workflows.
ShareX is a free and open-source screenshot and screencast utility for Microsoft Windows. It provides multiple capture modes, including fullscreen, active window, region, scrolling capture, and timed capture, and can record the screen to video or animated GIF formats. After capturing, it offers a configurable workflow system that can automatically perform tasks such as annotating, adding effects, blurring or pixelating sensitive areas, adding watermarks, generating thumbnails, and copying results to the clipboard. The application includes built-in editors and productivity tools (such as image editing, color picking, and ruler/measurement utilities) and supports hotkeys for rapid operation. ShareX integrates with numerous upload and sharing targets (including image hosts, file hosts, and custom endpoints), supports custom uploaders via HTTP/S and scripting, and can generate shareable links and embed codes.
It is commonly used for software documentation, bug reporting, tutorials, and general content creation where fast capture, lightweight editing, and automated publishing are desired.
