Description

Rufus is a Windows utility for creating bootable USB drives (and similar removable media) from disk image files to install or repair operating systems and perform low-level formatting tasks.

Rufus is a free, open-source utility for Microsoft Windows designed to format USB flash drives and other removable media and to create bootable installation or recovery media from ISO (and related) disk image formats. It is commonly used to prepare USB installers for operating systems such as Windows and various Linux distributions, and it supports both legacy BIOS and UEFI boot modes, including options relevant to partition schemes (MBR/GPT) and file systems (such as FAT32 and NTFS). The program provides features for quick and low-level formatting, writing images in a way suitable for booting, and customizing certain installation parameters where supported.

Rufus is distributed as a small, portable executable and is widely used by IT professionals and end users for OS deployment, system recovery, and firmware/boot troubleshooting.
